DURATION
CIS certification is a two day program with 12 hours of education for motivational events and incentive travel professionals - including students and academic faculty.
EXAM
The certification process includes a compulsory exam which must be taken and passed by each candidate.

CIS OWNERSHIP & CONTENT RIGHTS
SITE is the official owner of the Certified Incentive Specialist brand name and the CIS program.
CIS certification is officially granted by SITE.
"CIS Re-Certification guidelines"
CIS professionals need to re-certify with SITE every 3 years with any one of the following elective procedures.
SITE values three categories in which you should have been active to retain the certification. Provide proof of at least 2 activities in any from the categories listed below
Category 1
CONTINUING EDUCATION
a. Proof of attending 4 educational sessions (on incentive travel related topics) at various meetings and events you’ve attended. These would include SITE´s International Conference or any other conferences at the local, national, regional or global level.
b. Proof that you have participated in at least two webinars on motivational experiences or motivational/incentive travel.
c. Achieving other meetings and events industry certification within the three-year period: e.g. CITE, CMM, CMP, CASE, CEM, etc.
Category 2
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
a. Proof of participation in at least one trade show or trade congress per year.
b. Proof that you have been part of the planning and/or operations of an incentive travel program.
c. Proof that you have been working in the meetings industry for two of the three years.
Category 3
ACTIVE SUPPORT TO OUR INDUSTRY
a. Proof that you’ve written at least 3 articles on incentives or related topics.
b. Proof that you have given at least one lecture or presentation (of 30 minute minimum duration) on motivational experiences or motivational travel during a trade show, a Chapter educational meeting or at an academic institution.
c. Proof that you have been part of the board of directors of a SITE Chapter.
d. Proof that you have been part of the International Board of Directors.
e. Proof that you have been part of a SITE committee.
f. Proof that you have been part of a SITE Foundation committee.
PROOF
We consider proof, the following documents that should be attached to your request:
1. Scanned diploma or certificate of participation
2. Scanned badge of a Trade Show or conference and copy of educational program attended
3. Letter of organizer confirming your attendance or professional practice
4. Payment receipt/invoice from organizer with document of participation
FEE
$225USD payable through paypal or by wire transfer.
CLOCK HOURS
SITE is happy to be a CMP Preferred Provider of education, offering our attendees continuing education credits towards their CMP recertification for earning your Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS). The Events Industry Council (EIC) has pre-approved the CIS for 12 CE credits. You can log your hours in your EIC account.
